Finally, today were where flying into Panama City, Panama and beginning our Central American adventure!!!

I was sad that we only had a little time in Miami, our stay with Ruslan and Sarabelle had gone by WAY too fast, but we were really excited about our upcoming week on the catamaran in Panama.

I had to get one photo of the guest room we were staying in that was FULL of photos of Che Guevara, courtesy of Ruslan.

As I was packing Sarabelle had Keith bring me breakfast, which was a huge glass filled with berries, yogurt and granola, very delicious and very much appreciated!  Sarabelle is quite the Martha Stewart!

Our flight down to Panama City was just barely over 2 hours from Miami and pretty uneventful.  We arrived ahead of schedule, grabbed our bags that were actually already on the baggage carousel and made it out through customs in record time.  We grabbed cash at the ATM at the airport; luckily dollars are used in, Panama, and headed out to find a cab.

An overly helpful guy directed us to the cabs and told them where we wanted to go and then of course asked for a tip.  Luckily it was just an airport incident because during the rest of the trip this wasn't something we experienced.

The ride in was pretty fascinating.  I never imagined that Panama City had so many high rises; an incredible amount of them, many still under construction.

Traffic wasn't too bad until we came to the toll sections of the road.  Still, it was pretty mundane and not at all that crazy like you normally see in large cities.

We just couldn't get over the amount of skyscrapers here...

We skirted Panama City and then the freeway ended, putting us into the city and in a pretty local neighborhood.  It was in direct contrast of the high rises we had just seen in the downtown area but looked to be the more "colorful" part of town.

Finally, our hotel!  Located on the beginning of the canal, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it was an oasis waiting for us.  Welcome to the Country Inn and Suites, Panama!

This is the view from our balcony, of cargo ships entering and leaving the Panama Canal, how cool!

Nice pool and much needed in the very tropical 90 degree plus humidity weather outside.

We took it easy in the room, I still wasn't feeling back to normal after my bout with food poisoning and trekking around the city in the humidity wasn't something I felt like doing.  Keith had to finish up some work so it worked out perfect just to lounge around.

The only restaurant in the hotel was a T.G.I. Friday's, funny enough, so we went down to enjoy a drink at sunset and celebrate our arrival to Panama.

We sat outside with a perfect view of the canal and the sun slowly setting.

We made it an early night, Keith continued to work and I put together some little gifts we had brought for our visit to the Embera Indians near the end of our trip.

I couldn't wait to fly to Bocas del Toro tomorrow and start our adventure on the Explorer!
