It was that time of the year, time to decorate the house for the holidays!
Here in rural Italy there are no huge lots filled with overly priced cut trees for Christmas. They either use fake ones or you can find live ones for pretty inexpensive prices. Keith found his perfect tree at OBI, a building supply store, for 10 Euro. By the time we got it home we realized it was bigger than we thought!
Keith made sure we had a little gluhwein to keep us company as he trimmed up the tree.
Keith is ALL about his lights. He loves having all kinds of cool blinking flashing LED lights all over the tree. This year we had even found some really cool icicle lights!
We also found these itty bitty trees that we decorated for our individual offices.
I decided to be crafty this year and make a garland for the fireplace and attempt to make some wreaths. I love the smell of the fresh cut trees!
I searched the Internet for some how-to instructions and went outside and cut clippings from our juniper hedge, cypress trees and rosemary bush. The fragrance was amazing although they were pretty sappy and made a bit of a mess. In no time I had the garland made!
It fit perfectly on our mantle above the fireplace.
Next up, the wreath project. This one was a little trickier to fasten everything to the base but in the end turned out pretty nice.
No stopping me now! Keith had always saved our corks from the wine we drink and as you may have guessed we have quite a few! I'd wanted to do something crafty with them so I decided to make a cork wreath. Again, I was pretty pleased with the way it turned out!
Who knew I could be so crafty?!
