I'm back and blogging the dolce Italian vita which is always an adventure! There are still some missing gaps in the blog but I'll be filling those in and posting about it when I do. Spring is in the air and the festa season is starting, there will be plenty to blog about!

It was that time of the year again, actually even later than that time of the year again, but it was time to harvest our grape vine!
It seemed that this is turning into a yearly event. Alessandra's kids had been asking us, practically begging us as to when we were going to harvest because they wanted to be sure to be there to help. We specifically waited for them to get out of school and come over before beginning.
Our little helpers are very important! They work really hard and normally make sure that the vine is picked clean.
The grapes were really ready to be picked, almost a little too ready but better late than never!
We harvested an amazing amount considering it came from only two vines! Matteo did a quality control by taste testing a few grapes. All good!
Both the dogs were hoping to help clean up anything that dropped to the ground. We tried to keep them from eating anything since grapes are known to be toxic to dogs.
What great helpers we have!
Alessandra was not so much a helper as she was an overseer of the operations.
The work wasn't over yet. Now the clusters needed to be de-stemmed. Our "team" of workers was on it, making sure all the grapes and stems were separated.
It was quite a lot of work to do! It also was pretty chilly out and everyone's fingers were getting cold.
Pretty soon we had to let our work force go home and warm up. They had helped us out so much we were really sad to see them go.
It was cold enough that I took my work inside as I could no longer feel my fingers.
I'm happy to say we finished, Keith muddled and pretty much juiced all the grapes and then put them into a plastic container to ferment.
Harvest done!
