Sometimes the lack of efficiency that Italy continues to somehow lumber along with astounds me.  Take Telecom Italia, for instance.

In this area we have no other choice for our telephone/internet service.  Amazing, but true.  Others will hopefully be in the area in the next year or so, we know of one wireless provider that is getting closer, but still, our only choice is Telecom.

So we have tried to have a phone line installed in the downstairs apartment since last August.  Telecom keeps sending out a couple of guys to try to do the job, who we have to explain each time what needs to be done since apparently no one in the company can even efficiently keep records of what their people are even working on.  Not only is it riduculous to have to explain to them for the fifth time now what needs to be done and what was done in the past, the cost of the men and trucks they send out each time could have probably paid for the installation of 20 different new lines.  It is absolutely maddening.

Apparently, the bottom line is that there are no new free lines in this area but each time the men and big trucks have to come, look around, test, talk to us, talk to Alessandra since we don't understand what they are telling us, drive off and inspect something else, and after a couple hours come to the conclusion that well...there still aren't enough lines to turn on one for us.

I just heard today that they have decided to revisit this "problem" on May 7th.  Which means that once again, they will send out a couple of guys with big trucks to waste a bunch of time trying to do something that perhaps I could suggest that they actually RESEARCH (what a novel idea!) before wasting our time by pretending they are actually going to fix the problem which is the fact that we just WANT A DAMN TELEHONE LINE INSTALLED!

Yep, sometimes this wonderful relaxing Tuscan life is HORRIBLY frustrating!
