Keith and I gathered our ever growing baggage together and headed up to LAX to deliver Keith in time for his flight back to Italy.

Keith was really ready to get back to Italy.  I, on the other hand, had decided to stay longer in California because I really do miss it, especially the mild weather in the winter time.

After making sure Keith made his flight I drove over to my girlfriend Sandy's pad in Redondo Beach where I would be staying through the weekend.  Today was Sandy's true birthday so I brought her/us over a of couple slices of cake to celebrate with.

Sandy and I have always enjoyed hanging out and watching movies/TV shows together and I was looking forward to having some girl time and just kicking back and being couch potatoes for a few days.

On Thursday I had a billion errands to run with Sandy to tag along.  Of course a few of them consisted of visiting malls so she was happy to oblige.  I also had to return our borrowed car to my sister-in-law, Annette, back down in Orange County and had already invited ourselves over for dinner and a movie on their new VERY large television.

Annette made a very tasty dinner and the three of us sat down and had a really nice meal together.

I appreciate and pay more attention to these experiences than I used to because they now are a bit of a rarity, since I only am in town once a year.  I probably sound like a broken record when I say that the one thing that is difficult about living in Italy is missing our family and friends, but not only is it true but it makes us much more aware of the moments we have and we have learned to really savor them.

I was unduly impressed by the HUGE television screen (60 inches!!!) and enjoyed the home movie watching experience. I had just a tinge of television envy but then again I'm not sure I could fit that thing in my house.  But I certainly would try...
