No stay with a girlfriend is complete without a girl’s night out on the town!

It was yet another spectacular California day and I took advantage of staying just a block from the beach by going down to the boardwalk with my girlfriend Veronica who had come down to spend the day with me.

There really is something to be said about standing on a southern California beach in February, soaking up the heat of the sun and listening to the rhythmic sound of the pounding surf.  Veronica and I took a long and lazy stroll down the beach catching up on our lives and discussing the possibility to see each other more often in the future since she and her family will be moving back to Sweden this year.

I wish I could package up the sights and sounds of the beach and have it available to playback on command.   It was simply gorgeous and absolutely a pleasure to be out enjoying the day.

We got ourselves together finally and <gasp> headed to the mall to do some power shopping.  We all are the kind of girls who arrive together, separate and conquer and finally find each other again to share the spoils of our kill, VERY effective.

We reluctantly dragged ourselves away from the mall to head back to Sandy's apartment and primp for the evening.  Another friend of Sandy's joined us, Drea, for the frivolities.

Sandy lives in Redondo Beach next to a small village of shops and restaurants so we were able to just walk over to the little downtown area and choose a California nouveau restaurant for dinner.

We had a blast, well, at least I did!  I was so happy to be surrounded by so many friends and once and we were all talking over each other telling Drea about stories from our past.  Here is Sandy and Drea...

...and Veronica and I, old partners in crime!

Both Veronica and Sandy had just celebrated their birthdays so we told our waiter about it and he brought over a dessert on the house.  Do we know how to work the system or what?!

After dinner we walked down to a local bar that had live music and sat for a while listening to the band, but soon everyone (except me) was getting a bit tired and ready to call it a night.  <sigh>  I guess that is what happens when you have a little less responsibilities than everyone else and have the luxury of staying up late and sleeping in!

Yep, we were safe at home by just after midnight!

I had a BLAST hanging out with my friends and I just wished I could have made it last all night!  There aren't many times these days that we are all able to get together like the old days, but I certainly enjoy it when we do!
