Ever since we introduced our friends Alessandra and Marino to hamburgers they won't give us any peace.  They mention it all the time and are constantly asking us when the next time we want to invite them over for hamburgers will be.

They were under the impression that hamburgers were what you get at McDonald’s and never understood America's passion with them until Keith made them a gourmet hamburger.  BIG mistake.  Now we have to keep trying to out do the last one and it is getting to be a very hard act to follow but we certainly give it a try.

We decided to have a barbeque, with some prodding by Alessandra, just before we were going away for my big birthday trip.  We also invited Alessandra's brother and sister-in-law and had a nice big group for our first hosted outside barbeque of the year.

It was simple, just potato chips with onion dip and veggies with ranch dressing, all which were a big hit with the Italians.

Keith cooked up quite a few burgers and appeased the kids with hot dogs while I made wasabi mashed potatoes and kept Keith's barbeque beans going.  It all was really good!

We stayed up late talking while the kids finally wore themselves out in the hammock...

Funny enough, consensus of our friends was that these hamburgers were a little dry, which made me have to try to translate the term that beggars can't be choosers...

No no no,
you got it wrong. It is not that they were dry, they were " a little drier than last time", they were great, really, but, you know, when you are back from carabbean, we are willing to volunteer for hamburger testing again. Oh, brother, sisters in law and children included.

We just do it for you, this is a scrifice that I am willing to make.

:grin
This post makes me miss you guys more

I spy a Franciskaner on the table there too - great with burgers. My favorite burger is with grilled onions and mushrooms, and bbq sauce. Mmmm.
