We might live in a small town in southern Tuscany but there are some nice benefits. One of them being wine tastings at our local Pane e Vino restaurant.
Especially in the winter time, Pane e Vino offers weekly wine tastings on Thursday evenings and brings to the table some very interesting finds. This week was no different; they were featuring a friend, Andrea Scanzi, who just wrote a book all about wine. He selected ten wines, not the absolute best but in his mind the most representative for the areas and the types of grape varietals, for an evening of "degustazione". The first five were clearly listed and described for us and all were quite nice. I think the Lambrusco (yes, cheap fizzy red wine) and the Pinot Nero were my hands down favorites. The next four wines were a blind tasting and we had to decide what was what and refer to the numbers on our glasses. We were close, but not entirely correct and it was definitely a learning lesson but a great evening of enjoyable wine.
Complimenti Arnaldo and Marco! We do enjoy spending quality evenings with you ;)
