Keith FINALLY got his way.
He talked and talked and talked and talked to everyone around that he could, and FINALLY this morning someone showed up with a tractor to plow the space for his garden. We now, truly, live in the valley and are surrounded by farmers. It has been KILLING Keith to see everyone working on their gardens and planting things while he is just starting to grow some of his seeds and is still searching for items he probably won't ever find in Italy. Come mid-morning, low and behold Marino was coming down our driveway with an extremely old tractor. Keith had been begging Marino for a week to borrow his rotatiler but apparently it couldn't be fixed so he had borrowed our mutual neighbor's tractor and came over to get the job done! The kids came along too and we all stood around and watched the lawn be uprooted into fertile growing area. It wasn't long before Marino got a call, had to leave with our car, left the tractor and the kids and Keith was plowing the lawn! As far as Keith having one of the best days of his life - he was in seventh heaven driving around a tractor he had just learned to use, putting up and down the plow to make the space for his garden. I think you could see him grinning in the next galaxy. Alessandra came over later to inspect the work and brought back her crazy kids. Ever since Porter lived with her for a few months last year she has had a special relationship with him and they spent a little quality time with each other while relaxing out on the lawn in front of the garden. Did I say garden? Crikey! I guess we ARE blending in with the rest of the "contadini" (farmers) in the area. Pretty soon Keith will be driving around in an Ape and I'll be doing work around the house in a dress-apron. Yikes!|

Or strawberries, mmmm.... I just bought some strawyberries yesterday and they were the most fragrant, delicious strawberries I think I've ever had. |
