When I first moved to California in...well quite a while back, I lived in the Pasadena area for about 7 years.  I had quite a lot of friends in the area who I continued to keep in touch with over the years.  Tonight we were going to a little cocktail party being given on our behalf and catching up with some of my old friends!

Before everyone showed up Keith and I made a taco run.  We had been drooling over the thought of having tacos from one of the many neighborhood taco trucks.



Luckily we had spotted one just down the street from where our party was being held so we indulged and it was DELICIOUS!

The party was being hosted by non other than our longtime friends Kenton and Catherine, the PERFECT cocktail party hosts; I think they both were born with martini glasses in their hands.

As people started arriving I felt as if I was being thrown back into time with all the old gang being together again!  One of the first to arrive was a good and old (although always younger than me!) friend who I have continued to keep in touch with now and then but haven't seen for a number of years.  Meet Sarah!



Sarah has a whole big family now of which I only know her oldest daughter.  I'm hoping one of these days for time to slow down and our families to spend some quality time together.

Kenton and Catherine put on a very nice spread, as usual, and it was so nice to be milling around with people I haven't had a chance to see for some years!



The girl to the right is another old dear friend of mine, Toshia.  She and I used to hang out quite a bit back when I was single and had some pretty fun adventures together.  The guy gestulating is one of my oldest and dearest friend's husbands and the guy to the far left is Toshia's very nice boyfriend.



Are you getting all this?  There will be a test later.

The kitchen seemed to be the gathering point for all of us and here Keith is talking with one of my closest friends, Sandy, while a newer friend of ours, Shaun, is in the background.



We asked Keith to take a picture of us but apparently his martini hand was a bit unsteady and instead he took this artsy shot...

Veronica and I were partners in crime for a VERY long time.  I'm so happy to be back in touch with her, she's always been very important to me and as I get older I realize how much I've missed her being in my life.  Of course we've both missed her hilarious husband Jonas who always has something funny to say...



Those with kids (geez, are we really that old?!) had to call it a night so us diehards stayed up late, debating and just catching up over many cosmos.



Kenton did a show-and-tell for Keith with some pretty cool porcupine spines from South Africa.  He actually uses them as cocktail stirring sticks and gave us some to take back to Italy.  Ingenious!



The night FLEW by and soon it was 3:30 a.m.!  We reluctantly let our friends say goodbye and then stumbled into the comfy couch bed, our home away from home.



I was so happy to have been able to see everyone and very thankful for the effort everyone made in coming to the party.  I DO realize that there was free booze but I like to think it was also our titillating conversation that brought everyone together.  I wish I could have made the evening last a lot longer, I realize how much I miss everyone and am a tad nostalgic for the old days and these friends.  I keep finding myself reflecting a lot this year and I know part of it is because I have a big birthday coming up that I'm not fully o.k. with.  Seeing all of my old friends makes me miss the old days, well, maybe just the parts of them that they were in.  I'm certainly very happy in the path my life has taken; I just wish I could bring all of my friends and family with me a little more often!
