Monday we planned to just go to Florence and shop till we dropped.  It was a bit rainy in the morning but by the time we arrived in Firenze the sun was shining and it was quite warm out.  Sandy had the brilliant idea of snagging a plastic bag from a janitor and shoving our coats and umbrellas in it and putting it in the baggage check at the train station.

Unfortunately cheap plastic bags aren't accepted.  Oh well!

After hitting the start of the Mercato Centrale which has WAY too many leather items to choose from, Sandy found her PERFECT coat.

Somehow Sandy is able to wear this color quite well, it would never work for me, but the damnest thing is that she got this coat for 120 Euro!!!!

They only had 2 left and weren't going to carry anymore (go figure), so they just wanted to get rid of them. I just couldn't believe she got such a great deal on the coat, I paid 200 Euro for a short red patent leather jacket and felt that I had received a good deal. I guess if I was into hot pink I could have had the deal of the century!

Sandy was very very happy.  I mean really really happy.

We wandered and shopped and found way too many great great items.  I wasn't hurting too bad because I hadn't had a chance to REALLY shop since we came to Italy, and I was in heaven.

As is tradition, I had Sandy rub the nose of the brass cinghiale for luck.

We did a quick run by of the Duomo but I'll admit after seeing the Vatican it wasn't quite as impressive, even though I love the outside of the structure.

Finally, Sandy pulled me away from all the stores and then collapsed at the train station, heavily laden with all our bags.

I think I might have worn her out! What a fun shopping day!!!
