I was on the tail end of my whirlwind trip back to the states and was flying up to Washington State to visit my parents for almost a week before heading back to Italy.  It had been a little over a year since I had seen my parents and I was really looking forward to our visit.

I flew in late Monday and kept both Mom and Dad up late chatting their ears off about everything and probably mostly nothing.  It was so nice to finally be there and spending time with them, I didn't want to go to sleep!

The next day my dad went into work early and made it back in time so that we could all go to a late lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in Edmonds, the cute little ferry port town where they live.

My dad works at Boeing, where he has worked for quite a while over the years and although he is near retirement age he is having such a good time working sometimes I think he'll never stop.  Lately everyone is telling him he should just up and retire but if you enjoy what you do, why?  My parents are hoping to retire to Italy later this year and my father is working on continuing his relationship with Boeing while in Italy which looks pretty promising considering the team he works on. Go Dad!

We spent the rest of the day together, catching up, running my usual last minute errands before leaving town, and just enjoying finally being all together in one place as a family.

I'm definitely looking forward to when they move to Italy, I'll have more partners in crime and Murphy and Porter will probably have even more annoying squeaky toys!
